Choco-Story: The Chocolate MuseumChocoholic foodies road tripping in Belgium need to add Choco-Story, Wijnzakstraat 2, Bruges, to their itineraries. This museum dips its visitors in the history of cocoa and chocolate, from the Maya and the Spanish conquistadores to the chocolate connoisseurs of today.

Choco-Story | The Chocolate Museum explores the 2600-year-old history of chocolate in words, pictures and flavors. First comes the origins and evolution of chocolate. Then, the museum shows how chocolate is made today, including the variety of raw ingredients and the development of the production process. Best of all (of course!) the chocolates made by hand can be sampled on the premises.

Choco-Story is housed in the historical Huis ‘de Crone’ building on St-Jansplein (at the intersection of Wijnzakstraat and St. Jansstraat) in the heart of Bruges. The building, which has been a wine tavern (1500s), pie bakery (1700s) and furniture factory (1900s), is one of the largest medieval houses in Bruges. The building was made a protected monument by Royal Decree in 1962. he Chocolate Museum is supported by chocolate producer Belcolade, based in Erembodegem: the only producer of authentic Belgian chocolate that is still Belgian-owned.
