Parma Ham Festival

Submitted by on September 13, 2010 – 11:26 pmNo Comment

It started September 10, 2010, Road Trips Foodies, so you’d better get those tickets to Italy booked right away if you intend to visit Parma during the annual Ham Festival (which ends September 19).

You’ll have the chance to taste samples of Prosciutto di Parma from hundreds of producers. Don’t miss the Parma Ham and Salami Museum (Museo del Prosciutto e dei Salumi di Parma), at the Foro Boario in Langhirano, about 20 kms south of Parma.

Parma ham is big business, involving 164 producing companies, 5,000 pig farms and 3,000 employees — a industry worth an estimated €1.7 billion.
