Eat Local and Fresh on the Kitsap Peninsula

Submitted by on December 6, 2010 – 12:12 amNo Comment

Road Trips Foodies heading northwest should take a look at a new website before driving out to the Kitsap Peninsula of Washington State.

Eat Local and Fresh (compiled by the Kitsap Peninsula Visitor and Convention Bureau) intends to corral all the farmers, food producers, meat and seafood processors, vineyards and brewers, bakers, confectioners, chefs, caterers, and other businesses dedicated to healthy eating. A “Eat & Drink Local Food Loop” is in development.

In the meantime, go online to check out the ever-growing listings of local producers. You know, the guys who promise “fresh picked food that didn’t travel the interstate” (Abundantly Green in Poulsbo), “raise Alpine Dairy Goats for the fresh milk” (Hansville Creamery in Kingston) and harvest oysters and clams from local waters (Tom Farmer Oysters in Allyn). Or as the Kitsap Peninsula website says, “We not only look good, but we taste good, too.”
