Crush Festival 2011

Submitted by on January 27, 2011 – 12:29 amOne Comment

The Adelaide Hills Food and Wine Harvest Festival takes place Sunday (January 30, 2011).

Yes, Road Trips Foodies, the seasons run opposite to those of the northern hemisphere down south in Australia. In North America, we’re counting the days ’til spring. In Oz, they’re celebrating the coming of fall.

The complete listing of all 32 events for that “Discover your Crush” day is online. Options include a breakfast with pancakes, strawberries and bubbly wine; slow-cooked salt bush lamb gyros, and wood-fired pizza. Plus, at any of the venues, participants can buy tasting glasses for $5 each — Spiegelau Festival Bordeaux glasses, to be precise.

If you’re already Down Under, there are other foodie events on Saturday (January 29, 2011). (Everything’s in and around Adelaide in the state of South Australia.)

A trio of 60-minute winemaster classes also are available Sunday (January 30, 2011). They’ll be held at the Locavore, 1-49 Mt Barker Road, Stirling, South Australia. Darryl Catlin of Shaw+Smith Winery and Hylton McLean from Honeymoon Vineyard present at 11:30 a.m. Then, at 1 p.m., it’s Leigh Ratzmer of Wicks Estate and Michael Sykes from Lodestone Winery. The final class, at 2:30 p.m., features Michael Schruers of The Lane Vineyard and Penny Jones from Petaluma.
