Pistes Gourmandes

Submitted by on February 25, 2011 – 12:06 amNo Comment

Pistes Gourmandes is billed as “A Gourmet Experience for All Ages”. It’s set for March 21 through 24, 2011, in the ski resort of Val d’Isère in the French Alps. An event devoted to discovering authentic, ethical products and the art of great food, Pistes Gourmandes brings leading chefs and food writers to the alpine resort for a series of cooking demonstrations, cookery lessons and tastings.

The schedule includes cookery classes for adults and children; meetings, discussions and conferences with leading chefs; ‘Seed of Toque’ which aims to teach children to eat healthily from an early age, and wine tastings.

The finale of the first female-only cookery competition, La Cuillere d’Or ( ‘Golden Spoon’) will also take place during Pistes Gourmandes, when guests will have the chance to see professional and amateur female chefs battle it out to prepare a sumptuous meal for eight people in 3½ hours.

Yeah, it helps if you’re a skiier, Road Trips Foodies, since Val d’Isère is a ski resort. Note that if you want to participate in the cooking lessons and wine tasting, you must register in advance at the Tourist Office. For more information, go online.
