Gonna be wandering Kansas this winter? Consider taking a step back in time by participating in one of the cooking workshops offered in January, February and March by the Kansas Historic Society.

If your travel plans take you near the northern Kansas/Missouri border, Road Trips Foodies, sign up for one of the wood stove cooking demonstrations at the Grinter Place State Historic Site, 1420 South 78th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Grinter Place, completed in 1857, is the oldest home in Wyandotte County.

Upcoming sessions are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. January 14, February 11 and March 10, 2012. You’ll check out traditional recipes through cooking demonstrations as staff prepares a lunch of savory dishes for you. You’ll also work on a craft project and hear a presentation on local history topics. The $5 admission fee includes lunch, speaker, and a tour of Grinter Place (the fee is $3 for speaker and tour only).
