Rabbit Gumbo lures Road Trips Foodies to the little town of Iowa, Louisiana, March 16 through 18, 2012

Once upon a time there was a rabbit processing plant here, and even though that’s gone, the taste for rabbit remains. The cook-off on March 17 shows many ways it can be prepared.

The Rabbit Festival, always held on the third weekend in March in Lawrence Toups Jr. Memorial Park celebrates the economic and culinary impact these furry creatures have had in this part of Southwest Louisiana.

Also included is a rabbit show hosted by Acadiana Area Rabbit Breeders.
