Scottish Highland Creamery . . . in Maryland

Submitted by on April 2, 2012 – 12:57 amNo Comment

Last year, the Scottish Highland Creamery was been named “2011 Small Business of the Year” by the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce. But, the shop closes up from November through March, so April is the first chance that Road Trips Foodies will have to see what the fuss is about.

The shop, 314 Tilghman Street, Oxford, Maryland (map), is owned and operated by Victor Barlow, a native of Scotland, and his wife, Susan. Once a well-kept secret, it was voted “Best of the Eastern Shore: Best Ice Cream” by What’s Up magazine readers in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

The creamery offers hand-made ice cream, frozen yogurt and sorbet made in 600(!) flavors — all using local ingredients. Sorbets are lactose-free, and there are sugar-free and gluten -free ice cream and/or sorbet choices.

The historic town of Oxford, Maryland, founded in 1683, is located in Talbot County on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
