streetsceneYour Road Trips Foodie spent a wonderful week in southernh Scotland this fall, so she knows firsthand that Edinburgh and whisky make a perfect combination.

Here’s a tour offered by Great Value Vacations combining the two that will give you insight into the centuries-old process of whisky (“the water of life”) production, while introducing you to the city of Edinburgh, with the backdrop of the central Scottish Highlands.

For four nights, you’ll be based at the Crowne Plaza Edinburgh – The Roxburghe Hotel — overlooking Charlotte Square. Discover the famous whisky of Scotland at a tour, dinner and tasting at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, a private club with an award-winning dining room.

The Highland Lochs, Glens and Whisky tour is a full day excursion through the Celtic heartlands in the central Scottish Highlands where you will explore the waterfalls of the Birnam Forest, Pitlochry, the gateway to the Highlands in Perthshire, the Queen’s View and Loch Tay, an area steeped in ancient history.

Visit Dewar’s World of Whisky at the Aberfeldy distillery for a tour and tasting, journeying through Rob Roy country past Stirling Castle, before returning back to Edinburgh.
