If you’re traveling for a foodie event, check with the organizers to be certain it’s still scheduled. It’s probably been canceled, and you should be “sheltering in place” anyway.

Florida Strawberry Festival

Submitted by on February 18, 2015 – 8:11 amNo Comment

florida_plant-city_strawberriesIt’s the 80th year for the annual Florida Strawberry Festival, and organizers want everyone to “Come Join the Party!” in Plant City, Florida, from February 26 through March 8, 2015.

It must be noted, Road Trips Foodies, that this fest is much more county fair than food festival — but there still are fresh strawberries to enjoy (on the fairgrounds and at farmstands on the streets leading to the event).

Of course there’s a midway and livestock exhibits and on-stage entertainment, but Road Trips Foodies head here for the strawberry shortcake (and your Road Trips Foodie knows this from, ahem, personal experience). The treat is available at three different locations on the Festival grounds: East Hillsborough Historical Society Strawberry Shortcake (directly south of the TECO Expo Building), St. Clement Catholic Church Make-Your-Own Shortcake (inside the south end of the Parke Exhibit Building) and Turkey Creek Assembly of God Shortcake (inside the Strawberry Tent).

Regular admission at the gate is $10 for adults.

The Florida Strawberry Festival is an 11-day community event celebrating the strawberry harvest of Eastern Hillsborough County.
