Submitted by on April 1, 2017 – 8:48 amNo Comment

KOKS, Faroe IslandsIt’s about as remote as a Road Trips Foodie can get. The Faroe Islands, halfway between Iceland and Norway, are a collection of 18 spots of land in the North Atlantic that are part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

This year, a Faroese restaurant, KOKS, has earned the first star ever awarded by the Michelin Guide in the Faroe Islands.

Situated in Kirkjubøur on the island of Streymoy, KOKS was founded by Leif Sørensen, one of the creators of the New Nordic Kitchen Manifesto, and is characterised by its unique Faroese identity and by its use of sustainable local products.

Poul Andrias Ziska, born and raised in the Faroe Islands, took over the reins from Sørensen and, has built on its previous successes to ensure that the restaurant continues to be at the forefront of the evolving Nordic food movement. KOKS was awarded the Nordic Prize in 2015.
