Slow Food in Sonoma County awards Snail of Approval, CaliforniaSeven Sonoma County restaurants in California have earned the Snail of Approval by embracing the Slow Food principles of “Good, Clean, and Fair food, for everybody.”

The “Snail-approved” restaurants include Backyard in Forestville, Diavola Pizzeria and Salumeria in Geyserville, Estero Café in Valley Ford, Naked Pig in Santa Rosa, SHED in Healdsburg, zazu kitchen + farm in Sebastopol, and the Black Piglet food truck in Healdsburg.

The Snail of Approval sustainability program is collaboration between two Slow Food chapters, Slow Food Russian River and Slow Food Sonoma County North. Each restaurant went through an approval process that included a detailed questionnaire, followed by an interview and on-site review. Plans call for adding other restaurants, and expanding to include artisan producers and farms.

Slow Food is a global grassroots organization with more than 100,000 members in more than 160 countries; it stands for local foods, traditional gastronomy, and time-honored food production.
