Twin City RibFest, North CarolinaHot ribs and cool music are promised for the Twin City RibFest, set for June 7 through 10, 2018, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Yes, it’s the 14th anniversary of the tasty event. Every year since 2005, thousands of BBQ fans have gathered for the good food and fun” “daring to promote a whole ‘nother type of ‘cue; something beyond”.

Lexington-style BBQ promoter Allen McDavid launched the first RibFest. “Where is it written that pork barbecue has to be chopped or shredded,” McDavid asked. “There is more to the pig than shoulders and butts.”

This year, six teams will face off: Off the Bone Columbus, Ohio; Gullah Low Country BBQ, Spartanburg, South Carolina; Dem Boyz BBQ, Jacksonville, North Carolina; Mac’s Speed Shop, Greensboro, North Carolina; Fine Smoke Columbus, Ohio, and Killer Q, Matthews, North Carolina.

Of course there’s a marketplace and a huge roster of music performances.

It all takes place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, 414 Deacon Boulevard, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Note: Enter the RibFest parking area from Shorefair Drive NW.

Admission at the gate is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and active military; children 12 and under are free.
On the first day (June 7), it’s $3 admission for all adults. On both June 7 and 8, there’s free admission before 5 p.m.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 7, 8 and 9, and noon to 7 p.m. June 10, 2018.
