Barbecue Festival in North Carolina

Submitted by on September 21, 2018 – 8:29 amNo Comment

Barbecue Festival in Lexington, North CarolinaThe annual Barbecue Festival takes place October 27, 2018, in Uptown Lexington, North Carolina. A ten-block stretch of Main Street is closed to traffic, with banners at either end announcing the Festival with a logo featuring four dancing pigs.

Sure there’s all sorts of BBQ. Also look for seven stages throughout the 14-block area of the fest that will feature local, regional, and national entertainment. There will be 350+ artisans and craftsman, children’s attractions car shows, rides, games and many other “pig” themed activities to celebrate Lexington’s famous heritage. The festival is also home to children’s rides and games, a bicycle stunt show, a lumberjack sports show, and a rock climbing wall. New attractions this year are an expanded Wine Garden and the mysteriously named Que-UP Brew-Up (it probably involves beer).

Admission is free. The exhibits open at 8:30 a.m., with a ceremony at the Grandstand Stage on the Square at 9 a.m. Barbecue tents open at 10 a.m.

The festival closes at 6 p.m. — when there’ll be three hours for a Festival Finale Concert and fireworks in the Breeden Amphitheater on East Third Avenue.
