New in Indianapolis — Pop Up: Pie

Submitted by on March 4, 2020 – 8:39 amNo Comment

"Pop Up: Pie", Newfields, Indianapolis, IndianaThe newest venue for pop-up eateries? Art museums! Pop Up: Pie is open during museum hours now through May 24, 2020, in the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Newfields, 4000 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.

The only drawback? It’s only available after you’ve paid general admission to get in. But then, Road Trips Foodies, you can slide into a diner booth, order a sweet or savory pie, and pair it with a classic mug of coffee or vanilla milkshake..

Pop Up: Pie re-creates a vintage vibe while exploring the history of pie in America and throughout the world (we can thank 14th-century Rome for the first published recipe -— a rye-crusted goat cheese and honey pie). Savory options include lamb, chicken, and potato; or, if you’re feeling sweet, ask for sugar cream pie or apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on the side. Also available: old-fashioned vanilla milkshakes (add bourbon or brandy for a buzzy, grown-up concoction). Each handcrafted, personal-sized pie is priced individually, and vegan options are available, too.
