Bundesgartenschau in Koblenz

The biennial Bundesgartenschau is set for April 15 through October 16, 2011, in Koblenz, Germany.

Perhaps better known as BUGA, the German federal horticultural show will take place in a city named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.

Located where the Rhine and Moselle rivers converge, this ancient settlement derives its current moniker from the name given to it by the Roman empire: Castellum apud Confluentes (“fortification at the confluence”).

The show will have three locations totalling 48 hectares (about 119 acres) at the Electoral Palace, the Blumenhof courtyard and Ehrenbreitstein fortress. Landscaped walkways will connect the sites, located on both sides of the Rhine. More than 2 million visitors are expected during its run, Road Trips Gardeners, so begin to make plans to attend now.
