The annual Tropical Extravaganza returns with another brilliant burst of color to banish the winter blues. Road Trips Gardeners need to make plans now to get to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew, London, England, between February 5 and March 6, 2011.

Stroll among vibrant orchids and other exotic plants in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. Sculptures of birds that depend on these plants, as well as the sounds of the rainforest, will add to the tropical atmosphere. Guides will be on hand to tell you more and answer queries.

Special events include behind-the-scenes tours of the Orchid Nursery and the Tropical Nursery, sessions on how to grow orchids and vanilla orchid-inspired afternoon tea in the Orangery.

Royal Botanic Gardens is located at Kew, Richmond, Surrey, about 10 miles from central London.
