Flower of the Day: Lobivia Arachnacantha

Today’s flower is the bright red bloom of the Lobivia arachnacantha v. densiseta, a trichocereae cactus thought to originate in Bolivia. (It’s also known as Echinopsis arachnacanthus.)

Our intrepid photographer caught it blossoming in the desert greenhouse at Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California (just northeast of Los Angeles), last week.
