If you’re looking for trees or shrubs that grow well in the Pacific Northwest, Road Trips Gardeners, stop by the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden’s Fall Tree & Shrub Sale. It’s on for two weekends: October 19 through 21 and October 26 through 28, 2012. Hours are 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. each day.

The garden is located at 20312 15th Ave NW, Shoreline, Washington (map).

This four-acre public garden contains a unique blend of Pacific Northwest native plants and unusual exotics set in a naturalistic wooded setting. Note: the MSK Nursery at the gardens closes for the season on November 1.

Here’s an interview with Dr. Arthur R. Kruckeberg, who, with his wife Mareen, founded the garden in 1958:

Dr. Kruckeberg, a professor emeritus of Botany at the University of Washington, still lives in the house and often can be found working in the Garden or discussing plants with visitors.
