Illinois Mycological Association Show & Sale, Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, IllinoisTechnically, they’re not a product of a garden (they’re foraged in the wild), and, heck, they’re not even plants. But Road Trips Gardeners can check out the exhibition of 50 to 100 varieties of “fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting bodies of fungus” at the Mushroom Show & Sale staged by the Illinois Mycological Association at the Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, Illinois. It’s set for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. September 1, 2019.

Celebrate the richness of fall mushrooms foraged from area forests in Illinois. Association members will provide information and answer questions about mushrooms and fungi. Explore the children’s education area and shop for mushrooms, books, and T-shirts at the show.

Mycology is the study of fungi that explores how humans use them as a source for medicine and food; what dangers they may pose, such as poisoning or infection; and their benefits to natural ecosystems.
